SpaceBux are Loadout's premium currency and are represented as gold coins. Also known as Space Bucks, you cannot actually earn these by playing the game but must instead be purchased for real money. This is how Loadout generates money for the company that made it, but don't worry, it doesn't ruin the game! Unlike many other free-to-play games which allow you to buy power for real money, here you can only get visual stuff which doesn't give you an advantage over the other players; it only makes you look cooler!
How To Get Them
There are currently two ways to get SpaceBux:
They can be purchased directly in various stacks from the "Purchase SpaceBux" screen in the Store. The purchasable stacks are 600, 3200, 7000, and 16000. The bigger the stack you buy, the better value you get saving up to 24% on the biggest stack. Compared to many other games that sell premium currency buying SpaceBux is actually quite cheap, with the biggest stack costing only 16 Euros. Trust me, Loadout is worth 16 euros and more!
The other way of getting SpaceBux is by buying packs. In my opinion these packs offer a better value for your money compared to the previous option as you not only get the coins, but also a bunch of other things. There are 3 packs available in-game and 1 pack available on the Steam page, which give you SpaceBux, cosmetic items, experience/Blute gain boosts, and in some cases even exclusive items.
You can check how many SpaceBux you currently have by looking at the lower right portion of the screen anywhere except when in a match.
How It Works
If you are scared about putting your Credit Card details into the game, don't worry because you won't have to! All of the in-game purchases are handled through Steam, which is great in my opinion. To get started simply go into the Store tab in-game, or go onto the Steam page and look under DLC.
Something I would like to mention is that CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries get a 50% discount when buying SpaceBux. Not really sure why this measure was put in place but people seem to believe it is because of the high piracy rates in said countries.
What You Can Buy With Them
I mentioned earlier that only cosmetic items can be purchased with SpaceBux, but this isn't 100% true. While the majority of the purchasable items are indeed cosmetic, there are also some other things such as boosts or additional slots. Let me list everything you can buy with said currency below:
- Clothing items for each of the 3 characters. Note that each character has 14 clothing slots.
- Taunts. Each character has 4 taunt slots.
- Loadout slots.
- Weapon slots.
- Experience rate boost.
- Blute rate boost.
Note that even though you cannot get SpaceBux by playing the game, you can get clothing items through the daily prize system. All clothing and taunts can be previewed in game for free by going in the Outfitter tab.
Here are some quick samples I brewed up to give you guys some ideas on how you can customize your characters:
Please note that I have no affiliation whatsoever with Loadout or Edge of Reality, so it won't effect me at all whether you buy SpaceBux or not. With that having been said, I suggest you do make a purchase if you enjoy playing the game to support the developers and help/motivate them to keep improving the game.
